The site of this tennis court sloped over 10m located on the notorious Balcombe Fault (land slip) a house previously constructed on the court site had literally been split in two by ground movement. Kevin McNamara commissioned a detailed geotechnical investigation which recommended reducing the weight on the ground to minimise the risk of landslip. This was achieved by excavating to 5m deep at one end supported by a Dromana stone retaining wall and carting 2000 tonne of earth off site. At the low end of the court the concrete slab was supported on polystyrene slabs stacked 4.5m high thus minimising ground loads.
