permit requirements

Planning permits

Home tennis court development is controlled by the “Code of Practice Private Tennis Court Development.” Provided a tennis court development meets the standards set out in the code and is not affected by specific planning controls it will not require a planning permit.

Kevin McNamara was involved in the drafting and introduction of the Code and will be happy to advise on the application of the code to specific proposals.

Building permits

Standard tennis courts do not require a building permit, but retaining walls higher than 1 metre costing more than $5000 do and must be constructed by a Registered Building Practitioner.

Note: Because building and planning regulations change from time to time you can obtain up to date permit requirements for your property by contacting Kevin McNamara’s office.
